2. Shogun and Edward Community Pest Control Update Jul 14 2026

Shogun and Edward patrol common areas and have helped reduce mice and rats near the clubhouse and maintenance areas.

Residents are reminded not to feed them while working.

Important Note

The Board received a positive report about Shogun and Edward, the community’s honorary pest control dachshunds.

Residents reported seeing the two dogs patrolling the walking paths, maintenance area, pool surroundings, and other common areas during their evening walks. Several residents observed Edward locate and catch a mouse near the maintenance building.

Shogun is now 15 years old, but residents said he remains alert and continues to guide Edward. The Board described Edward as Shogun’s apprentice. Shogun appears to be teaching him where to search, when to stop and listen, and how to safely inspect areas where mice may be hiding.

During the past few months, residents and maintenance staff have noticed fewer mice and rats around the clubhouse, pool equipment area, and maintenance building. The Board thanked Shogun and Edward for their surprisingly effective work.

Residents were reminded not to feed the dogs while they are working. Treats may be given after their patrol with permission from their owner.

Decision

Shogun remains Senior Honorary Pest Control Inspector; Edward remains Apprentice. No salary, only praise and supervised treats.
